Improving prescribing and encouraging rationale to the use of drugs

This international networking for scientists working in Clinical Pharmacology will focus on various aspects of the discipline. The overall theme will be to examine how research in clinical pharmacology is helping to provide the patients with the appropriate, safe and cost-effective therapies in a world where the pressures facing prescribers seem to increase progressively. International participants will come from the U.K. (10 participants from various British medical schools), while participants from Croatia will include clinical pharmacologists (10), PhD students/research fellows (10) and undergraduate students of medicine interested in rational drug use (up to 30 students) who will attend selected topics from the event's programme. The event will be held from 24th to 27th of January 2008 at the premises of the British Council in Zagreb. The main aim of the event is to establish closer ties between the British and Croatian researchers active in the field of improvement in medical therapy with a desired main outcome of creating ideas and networks for prospective multinational joint project proposals. This event will be closely linked with the PhD course on Evidence Based Medicine held in October 2007 at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine.
